TARTE COSMETICS // Be MATTEnificent Amazonian Colored Clay Matte Collector's PaletteMonday, April 14, 2014
Featuring this on my blog may just be a very mean thing... Why? Because I just can't find it on any website and I have a feeling it may be sold out. But it is just too beautiful not to share, so if in some miraculous circumstance you can find this online somewhere - buy it! I was lucky enough to have a friend travelling to the States so she nipped into one of the Sephora and brought this for me; it was love at first sight!
First up, the packaging is outstanding! This is my first venture into Tarte products and this has now got me a little obsessed with the brand. This is called the CC Matte Be Mattenificent Amazonian Colored Clay Collector's Palette (phew, that is a mouthful) and it features six eyeshadow, one blush and two shadow liners; all matte and all incredible. The palette has an amazing pattern like a clay agate formation - it really excites the gemstone lover in me.
Although the outside really is a thing of beauty, it is what's inside that count, right? Well this does not disappoint, the shades are all in the purple/lilac/pink tones with a brown and black shadow liner. Good matte shadows are a must - they are great for all over the lid, they help to blend, great for the crease and there are just days when you don't want a eyeshadow look packed with shimmer or glitter.
It also came with a little card to give you tips and tricks on creating a couple of different eye looks using the various shadows.
Usually palette brushes aren't that great, but not dissimilar to the Urban Decay brush offerings in their palettes, this Tarte one has very high quality brush included. It is double ended with a flat, packing brush and then a larger fluffier brush to help blend.
Now for some swatch goodness. Matte shadows are notoriously never as pigmented as shimmery shades but these ones prove that theory wrong. The Amazonian clay formula just does something magic to these shadows - they are buttery soft, smooth, silky and highly pigmented. They blend like a dream and they stay put all day. There is a great selection of colours with a light beige, peachy brown tones, pinks and plums.
The shadow liners (which can also just be used as normal eyeshadows) have serious pigmentation, the black one is so dense and very black making it great as a liner and also for smudging out and intensify an eye look. The brown is also great, it works well with the overall colour scheme of the palette.
The Amazonian Clay blush in the palette, called Elevated, is a limited edition shade and is absolutely gorgeous! It is peachy-pink, super wearable matte blush that stays all day. It's again that Amazonian clay magic at work that makes these formulas stand out - they are like nothing I have tried before. The blush has some serious pigmentation to it, so a light hand is needed.
And here for your viewing pleasure, is an overview of the entire palette and all of its matte beautifulness. As one of my first Tarte products to try, this could not have been any better! It was around USD $36.00, which I think is incredible value for the quality of the products and the gorgeous packaging included. I'm now on a Tarte buzz, so let me know your must haves from the brand!
