USA HAUL #004 // Sephora + Macy'sThursday, December 18, 2014
If there's one haul post you don't wanna miss this week, it's this one. Ah, Sephora... you have my heart, my soul (and all my money), but gosh, you are a makeup lovers dream! I've been into Sephora a few times, years ago in LA (before I was heavily into makeup + blogging) and not so long ago in Rome, but this time around I did some serious damage (and took at least four trips in there!) As well as lots of Sephora goodies, I've also included items I got from the Macy's beauty department, because I managed to get some of the items I desperately wanted from there that I couldn't find at Sephora.
Sephora Favorites Superstars Beauty Must Haves // USD $75.00
Can we just stop and appreciate how incredible this set is for a moment?! It comes packed with 12 items, with a value of about $225, all for only $75! It has 9 full sized products, two deluxe sized samples (the Benefit Porefessional and They're Real, which I own and love), plus a roller ball of the Chloè by Chloè fragrance. The gift sets that Sephora bring out are seriously out of this world and it is a great way to try some brands that you may have not other wise chosen yourself.
Sephora Favorites Glitz & Glam Party Essentials Sampler // USD $45.00
I couldn't get just one of the sets, and opted for this one that has 9 products all housed in a really nice metallic pouch. I'll have a whole dedicated to this set coming soon, after I give each of the products a test run, but so far I'm enjoying a lot of them! The sample sizes are so generous, and it also has a full sized Deborah Lippmann polish, Smashbox lipstick and Lancome liner, with the whole set worth about $156!
Tarte Chic To Cheek Deluxe Amazonian Clay Blush Set // USD $35.00 - Macy's
I was a bit worried I wasn't going to be able to find this gorgeous set, as it wasn't at Sephora and the first Macy's I went into in San Fran was sold out, but I finally found it in Seattle, and I'm so glad I did! You might know I have a lot of love for these blushes (see them here), so to now own four adorable mini versions pleases me greatly! I'll have more on these coming soon!
Too Faced La Belle Carousel // USD $49.00 - Sephora
Perhaps the creme de la creme of the Christmas sets this year is this beauty from Too Faced. The packaging alone is a beaut, and it looks great sitting on my vanity, but not only that it has 12 eyeshadows, two blushes, two bronzers and a deluxe size of my fave mascara, Better Than Sex. This kit is incredible, I'll have swatches and more thoughts on this very soon.
Smashbox Try It Kit // USD $19.00 - Macy's [+ Sephora]
I love being able to sample different products, especially from brands that I've not used much from, so this kit from Smashbox is perfect! It has five mini sized products including; the Photo Finish Foundation Primer, Photo Finish Lid Primer, Limitless Eye Liner in Onyx, Full Exposure Mascara in Jet Black and Lip Enhancing Gloss in Illume. It has a value of $52!
Now for the palettes....
Smashbox Full Exposure Travel Palette // USD $22.00 - Sephora
This adorable little thing was sitting in the 'isle of doom' a.k.a. the area where you wait for the checkout, that has all the minis and sample products in it. I wasn't too fazed by the original, large size of the Full Exposure palette, but I couldn't resist this mini! It has eight shades, four mattes and four shimmers, and is the slimmest, most compact palette I own.
Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush Palette // USD $58.00 - Sephora
I knew as soon as I was told we were going to the US, I was going to buy this stunning palette. It is my first real Hourglass product (I have a mini sized lip gloss, does that count?), and it couldn't be a better introduction to the brand. I am already hooked and have gotten a lot of use out it, and it's just amazing as everyone makes it out to be!
Urban Decay Naked 2 Basics Palette // USD $29.00 - Sephora
This was another item I knew I was going to buy straight away! I adore the original Naked Basics (see it here) and use it a lot. Since I've got this, I've been swiping it on my lids non-stop. It has the amazing pigmentation you would expect, and the shadows are more on the cooler side of things compared to the original.
NARS Virtual Domination Cheek Palette // USD $65.00 - Sephora
A small tear may have come out when I saw this palette; it truly is the perfect cheek companion. It definitely isn't cheap, but it is so worth the price tag. It has three blushes (Sex Fantasy, Deep Throat, Final Cut), a bronzer (Laguna), and a highlighter (Miss Liberty), all stunning and all high quality. Plus that packaging... swoon.
BITE Beauty Mix N' Mingle Lip Minis - Luminous Crème Lipstick Duo in Retsina + Musk // USD $12.00 - Sephora
This came from the isle of samples, and it makes for a great handbag lipstick. It's very small, with the two mini lipsticks at either end. They are very creamy, with good pigmentation.
Urban Decay Revolution Lipstick in Turn On // USD $22.00 - Macy's [+ Sephora]
It was a hard choice narrowing this down to just the one shade and I ended up swatching so many, but settled on this rosy pink shade in Turn On. The swatch shows only one swipe; it has an incredibly rich colour pay off and glides on so easy, plus the colour is right up my alley.
Sephora Collection Cream Lip Stain in 03 Strawberry Kissed // USD $13.00 - Sephora
I wore this to work last week and it lasted me the entire day, literally no fading, smudging or anything. And that was through a few cups of coffee, lunch, sipping on my drink bottle, and a messy pizza for dinner; I was totally blown away by how long it stayed on. The rest of my family couldn't believe it either! At $13, these are a bargain, especilly if you want super long-lasting, matte, bold lip colour!
Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara in Black // USD $23.00 - Sephora
As I mentioned earlier with the La Belle Carousel set, this is one of my favourite mascaras at the moment. After using a sample size until it has pretty much dried up, I had to get the full sized as I couldn't go without it for much longer! It gives insane volume to my lashes, but at the moment it is a little bit too wet, so I'm waiting for it to dry out a bit and then it will be perfect!
Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Pomade in Chocolate // USD $18.00 - Sephora
I finally caved and got the famed Dipbrow! It was super hard to colour match though and I ended up with a hand and arm full of swatches trying to match it as best as I could to my brows and hair. This might end up a tad dark and I'm yet to try it out, but I think I can make it work (fingers crossed!)
On top of all the amazing items I bought, I also scored lots of samples and Sephora VIB rewards! At Macy's, they gave me a whole bunch to try, including a really generous sized Smashbox Lip Lacquer and a mini Urban Decay Prep Spray. I also ended up with lots of VIB points, so cashed them in on four samples; how cute is the mini Formula X polish!?
As you can see, I really went to town in Sephora particularly. It was such an amazing place, with every beauty brand you could want, with so much range for makeup, fragrance and skincare that we just can't get here in NZ. Plus the prices are so, so much cheaper! You may be thinking, where's all the nail polishes? Well hold tight, because tomorrow it's all nail polishes!
What is your favourite product from the things I bought? Have you got any of these products, if so what are your thoughts?
