It's two days out from the end of August so it is time to show you all of my Instagram photos from the month. As always I was snap happy sharing bits and pieces of what I got up to in August.
There is only one thing to be said right now, where was August? And how is it almost September? Yep, it's crazy; the end of the year is getting closer and closer as I type (which is very daunting!) Anyway, despite time speeding by, August brought along with it some pretty fine products that have become fast favourites, as well a couple of rediscoveries that I've been loving.

As a month has rolled on by, it's time give the July Violet Box a good ol' grilling and review the products inside. Sadly, this is going to be my last VB for a while as I cancelled my subscription purely as I want to try out a couple of different boxes (I'm eyeing up Meme Box next). But that doesn't mean that I didn't enjoy the service; I think it is one of the better ones available to NZ and I've loved the majority of the products that I have got in the boxes over the past four months or so. For more in-depth photos and swatches from the July box, go over and read my Unboxing + Initial Thoughts for July here.
Beauty Joint Haul I finally got around to ordering a few of the Wet N Wild Mega Last Lipsticks that I have had on my 'to buy' list for a little while now after hearing some amazing things about them. There are 26 shades available, and the best part about them - they are only USD $2.75 each, just over $3 NZD!
A big old bronzer is a must in anyone's makeup stash. There is something very satisfying about swirling your brush in a large pan of bronzing goodness that can then easily be swept onto the face to give you that natural looking tan, like you've been sunning yourself on the beach (when in reality it's winter and you have been sitting on your laptop all day!) This Big Bold Bronzing Powder from NYC gets the faux-tan thing going on and it won't break the bank!
#016 edition of the WPC, and now we are at the end of this week already! The past week on CM was packed with posts again and I covered lips, nails, eyes, cheeks and even snuck a haul in there too.
There are a few things that take up quite a lot of space in my makeup stash, and one particular thing is blushes. I just love the things, I feel they give back some much needed colour to the face after using foundation, concealer etc, and you can experiment with a lot of different shades, whether they are red, pink, peach, coral; there are just too many options out there. I own a lot of single blushes across a variety of brands but there are only a couple where I own more than 2 or 3 - these Studio Blushes from e.l.f. (Eyes Lips Face) sit in this category and I have six out of the ten available.
Sometimes in the middle of Winter, you just have to pull out the brightest of nail polish colours, and that is exactly what I did for this manicure. Go big or go home right? (or in this case, go bright or go home!)
As a blogger of predominantly all things beauty related I feel like I know or could recognise a lot of different beauty brands, but there are those oddities that come along, such as Lollipops Paris and the lipsticks I scored for only $3 - I'd not heard of the brand but they really impressed. The particular brand in question today is Jelly Pong Pong, and yes that is actually the name of the brand!
If you are new to these parts, you may not have seen my previous posts from last year all about Sample Bar which was a beauty subscription box service here in NZ that closed down at the start of this year. As they were shutting down I decided to use up some of the points/reward dollars I had accumulated and got a few things from the online shop and this interesting palette was one of them.
drugstore.com and beauty.com and doing a bit more shopping on these two amazing websites. About a month or so ago I went ahead and did my first order from the site and was so impressed with it (see the haul post here), I've gone in for round two! This was helped along by a $10 discount and a few other offers that were far too enticing for a shopaholic like me!
Revlon do some pretty amazing lip products (Matte Balms - I'm lookin' at you) and their range of Lip Butters is no exception. These lip products have been out for years now, so they're nothing new, but I think they are great lip products, so I thought I'd share my little collection.
When I first started to get into watching Youtube beauty videos, this was one raved about palette and it has taken me a very long time to actually go ahead and purchase it. Now I can't believe I put it off this long, as this thing is amazing, and just wait until you see the swatches!
here. Things were great this week; I've thrown myself back into uni after a week of little study happening due to the wisdom teeth removal, got my hair cut much shorter than I have had it in years (and, I mean yeeears) and received lots of exciting things in the mail (including a nice big parcel via. YouShop here). As for the posts, well there was a lot of activity on here as well!
As soon as I received the Linden Leaves Porcelain Brightening Serum* a couple of months ago, it went straight into my bathroom and into the skincare draw. Ever since then I have been using it daily and I have gotta say, my skin is reaping the benefits of this natural serum.
I don't discriminate against nail polish colours, in fact I love them all and find it hard to decide what colour I should use on a weekly basis. But when I am totally stumped as to what colour to use, I can always trust in pink shades. Oh, and a bit of glitter to top it all off as well and this double ended duo from L.A. Colors fits the bill perfectly.
Pagan Marie were going to have a couple of the Lime Crime Lipsticks in the limited edition 6th Anniversary packaging, I thought "I'm gon' need that". And sure enough I bought two shades in Coquette and Babette, both ones I have been eyeing up for a while now.
Benefit do makeup kits like no other, they are packed with minis of some of the best products, allowing you to try things from the extensive range before buying the full sized items. This Do The Bright Thing kit is aimed at brightening and highlighting the face with some of the best Benefit products to do it!

In my recent Beauty.com haul here, I predicted that this palette would become a fast favourite and boy, did it do that! It made the cut for my July Most Loved and it's about time it got the spotlight it deserves on CM.
If you read Saturday's post of my June End Of Month Review (here), you would have seen this one coming! The Lust Have It July Women's Beauty Box* has just arrived, and it does not disappoint!
The July Lust Have It Women's Box* just landed on my doorstep the other day so it is time to round out the June one and give you my thoughts on the products inside. The June box (well technically, bag) contained of 7 items; 4 full sized products and 3 samples and the value worked out to be around $68.00. Overall I really loved the products and would totally recommend this subscription service over others (and I'm not just saying that because Lust Have it sent this to me, you saw my Goodie Box unboxing right?)
When it comes to lippies, I tend to stick with the standard pinks and pinky nudes, generally I feel as though these suit me a lot more and are safer options. Red lipstick seemed like a very scary venture and is a colour I didn't think I could easily pull off, but since I received this gorgeous shade Rymba Rhythm from Karen Murrell* I think my opinions might have changed...
As promised yesterday, here is my sister's part of the big joint Beauty Joint order we placed. I thought it might be nice to share with you the items she has been wanting to get for a while and include some swatches of the products as well. Emily is no stranger to my blog and a month or so ago I shared a peek inside her travel makeup bag and like me, we both share a big love for makeup!
Because my obsessions with Beauty Joint grows more and more with every order I make, I've now decided to start numbering my hauls from the site. I'm unsure if this is a good or bad thing, because it just shows how much online shopping I do... but it also makes for good archiving! So if you are really interested you can see the other hauls here - 001, 002, 003, and 004. This haul was a joint one with my sister as it made shipping a little cheaper and I will be sharing the items she decided to pick up tomorrow, as it'll make a nice change from all the usual stuff I like to buy [i.e. pink lipsticks, blushes and eye shadow palettes].
After receiving the amazing Ciaté advent calender earlier in the year I have been slightly obsessed with these cute bow topped polishes and have been trying to make my way through each shade and get 'em on my nails; this particular manicure features Pillow Fight, and Snow Globe on the accent nail.
If you're a regular around these parts you will know I am quite a fan of beauty subscription boxes, I've had Sample Box (now closed down), Violet Box, Lust Have It and now I am also giving Goodie Box a try. Goodie Box has been on my radar for ages now but it seems to be a bit hit and miss a lot of the time. I was considering joining up after Sample Bar closed down, but then decided to go with Violet Box instead, but with the announcement that July would be Goodie Box's Birthday Month, there were high hopes and expectations that this was going to be a really good one! I'll be honest, there was promise of the new Benefit Push-Up Liner in the box so I pretty much signed up straight away as I am very keen to try it out, but I've been left slightly disappointed...
When I did my latest MAC order that contained items from the Kelly + Sharon Osbourne Collection, I also added this little beauty of a lipstick to the order. I was initially drawn in by the packaging (which happens to me all the time), but the colour is equally as beautiful as its housing. The lipstick in question is from the Proenza Schouler collection that was released for Summer 2014 in the US, and then came out in May here in NZ. I was surprised to find that they were even still available on the MAC US website and I am damn happy I got my hands on one of them.
As always there was a lot of activity on my Instagram account @cassandramyee and here is the monthly round up of the snaps I uploaded.
