TOO FACED | La Belle Carousel Christmas 2014 SetThursday, February 05, 2015
Firstly, I am going to have to apologize for featuring this set because I imagine it is now long gone and sold out in many places; but if you are lucky to find it on Amazon, a FB makeup buy/sell page, I suggest you buy it. Like, as soon as you see it. I did debate whether I should post about this or not, but it is such a beautiful thing I just had to share it! This is the Too Faced La Belle Carousel that was released as part of their 2014 Holiday Collection. I luckily enough nabbed this while in the States at Sephora late last year and I have been slightly obsessed with it ever since.
This post is going to be very picture heavy, because I took a lot of photos of it as it's an amazing piece of makeup! The set comes beautifully packaged, and it's probably some of the most amazing Christmas collection designs I've ever seen. As you might expect due to the name, it's in the shape of a carousel with a pink glittery base and top, that hold the six mini palettes, that each come out separately. From a design lover's point of view this is really a piece of art, and it looks incredible sitting on my dresser with all of my makeup bits, but it's also practical as you can take one or two of the individual palettes with you travelling, or you can store them flat separately.
Within the six palettes you get three with four pans of eyeshadows in them (the ones with the horses on the front), two that have a blush and bronzer duo (the ones that say 'La Belle Carousel'), and the last section holds a mini version of the Better Than Sex Mascara, which is my favourite mascara at the moment and one I have raved about a lot! It does an incredible job at building volume and length and it makes my lashes look insane! You can buy this mascara full sized from Sephora for USD $23.00.
In total the set comes with 12 eyeshadows split across three pans, all of corresponding shades and colours that work beautifully together as a quad. This is probably my favourite four from the lot, with incredible bronze and golden tones all packed with shimmer. All of the eyeshadows have great pigmentation that feels buttery, some of the very metallic ones almost feel like cream shadows. There is a bit of fall out with some of the heavily glittery ones though.
This selection of four is the most unusual, and the moss green shade, aptly called Christmas Tree is actually very beautiful and it works so well with Santa's Boots. Tin Soldier is one of those metallic ones that has a cream-like feel to it and it is STUNNING. Can I emphasis that enough?! I also love that each quad has a good range of shades; the highlight shades for each are welcomed additions, although their are no matte shadows. But in this instance I can forgive Too Faced because Christmas should be all about glitter and metallics anyway.
This was the quad I used on Christmas Day, specifically the shade Nude Beach, which is the most insane glittery champagne shade that the camera just could not pick up. This one is very glittery and has a bit of fall out, so it pays to spritz your brush with some setting spray before placing on the lids.
The final two palettes are duos of blushers and bronzers. The first duo (top two swatches of picture), include Who's Your Poppy? available to buy normally here, which is a peachy pink with golden shimmer, and Chocolate Soleil (available here also), a perfect matte bronzer. The second duo amps it up in the shimmer department with Luminous Peach, a soft peach with golden shimmer, and Sun Bunny Dark (full sized here), a golden bronzer packed with gold shimmer. These all blend out beautifully and they are packed with pigment, so a light hand is recommended, but you can build it up as you like.
So as you can tell I am a huge fan of the La Belle Carousel; it's the perfect mix of great quality makeup and beautiful packaging. I highly rate Too Faced products and the things I have tried have all performed amazingly well! For us NZ gals, you could try and buy from Sephora using a mail forwarding service, or you can find Too Faced on Beauty Bay and they ship to NZ orders over $20.00. I can't wait to see what the 2015 Holiday Collection will look like!
Did you manage to get your hands on this? What do you think about it?
