MAYBELLINE | Color Drama Intense Velvet Lip Pencil Collection + SwatchesFriday, June 05, 2015
I apologies if you are sick of hearing me (and everyone else in the world) obsess and rave about how great the new Maybelline Color Drama Matte Lip Pencils are. I seriously can't get enough of them, and what started out as two sent to me by PR, has escalated into me buying four more shades. They're seriously good, so I've lined them up and swatched the six shades I have. Plus I'll rave about them a little bit more.
There's a lot to really love about these lip pencils/jumbo crayon hybrid things. First off I like how they come packaged (although I'm yet to sharpen one, but a jumbo one should do the trick). The squat pencil form makes them easy to apply, easy to store and easy to chuck multiple in your handbag at once. The formula is surprisingly very creamy, with a smooth texture that glides onto the lips easily. You can get a good precise application with them as well. Once on the lips they set down to a more semi-matte finish, not totally matte and drying, but matte enough that they aren't going to slide around your mouth. The lasting power is amazing, and I can wear them all day and only need to touch up after eating.
There are a total of 10 shades in the collection. I have 6 out of the 10, and for the other shades check out Bonnie from BonnieBeautyxo's amazing post featuring them all here.
510 RED ESSENTIAL | Dark, vampy red.
520 LIGHT IT UP* | Bright, fire engine red. A classic shade.
420 IN WITH CORAL* | Crazy bright, almost neon pinky coral. The camera really didn't pick up how bright it is in real life.
150 FUCHSIA DESIRE | Blue based, vibrant pink.
110 PINK SO CHIC | One of my favourites. A darker pink berry shade.
630 NUDE PERFECTION | A close dupe to MAC Velvet Teddy. Brown based, dark nude.
I'm sure I'll probably end up with the other four shades soon enough, but these were the ones that I was drawn to initially (and let's be real, I don't need more lip products especially after this post). These really are a steal at NZD $11.99 each, you can get them at Farmers, The Warehouse, supermarkets and also online from Beauty Bliss.
Do you have any of these Color Drama Lip Pencils? What is your favourite shade?
