LUST HAVE IT | Women's Beauty Box June + July '15 - Unboxing + Initial ThoughtsWednesday, August 19, 2015
I will be the first to admit that I haven't been the best blogger in the land. Hopefully you lot barely realise, but behind the scenes I have a lot of catching up to do with posts, and photos etc etc. One of them being my Lust Have It Women's Beauty Boxes* which I've had piling up and forgetting to post about. I've decided to give you a double whammy today, sharing the contents and some thoughts on the June and July boxes, so here goes...
The June box, I gotta say, was a little underwhelming at first. It came with five products - all full sized which isn't too bad, but it didn't have me as excited about the products compared to previous months.
Teeez Trend Cosmetics Eve's Ready To Wear Lipstick in Classy Caramel | RRP $32.00
I was super excited to see a lipstick in the bag and the packaging on this is actually pretty cool - it's a little kitsch and tacky, but I kinda like it - at least it stands out among my collection! The colour sadly is not one I would usually go for; I was sent Classy Caramel (I believe there were other shade options), and it's a terracotta brown/red shade, and on the right person I'm sure it would look amazing. The pigmentation is nice though, and it does feel creamy and smooth on the lips.
Chapstick Hydration Lock Dual Action | RRP $4.99
I don't think you can have enough lip balms around, I have one in pretty much every bag, drawer or cupboard so I am never without one. I really like this Chapstick one - it has a dual end, so one side is for hydrating and soothing, the other locks in moisture for up to 8 hours. I don't think it lasts quite that long, but I like that it feels light on the lips, instantly moisturising and it definitely keeps my lips hydrated much longer than other balms.
NAK Thermal Shield Protective Sealant | RRP $25.95
This product could not have come at a more perfect time as I had just finished the last of my loved Tresemme Heat Protectant Spray. I've been using this one for the past week or so and have been enjoying it - although the smell is a little funky, but it doesn't linger on the hair. I use it on damp hair before blow drying and it definitely aids in smoothing the hair and keeping it a lot sleeker than if I was to go without using it.
The Cosmetic Kitchen Wake Up Body Scrub | RRP $29.95
These products are becoming very common in the LHI boxes, and I think these are my 5th product s from The Cosmetic Kitchen. This is probably one of them that I am most likely to use. It has super fine raw sugar, coffee and bergamont in the scrub, and interestingly you use this dry on the body then wash it off. Obviously you would want to do it over the shower or bath, because I can see it getting quite messy but I do look forward to giving it a go.
The Cosmetic Kitchen Peppermint Foot Mask | RRP $24.95
This is one I am least likely to use - although I do like the idea. This is a clay foot mask with peppermint and tea tree in it, that you mix with coconut oil and water then apply to the feet and leave on for 5 minutes. I've never heard of foot masks before - have you?!
With five full sized products and a value of approx. $117.84 - you can't really complain, although I'm not sure how much use I will get out of a couple of the products.
The July box arrived bang on time, which is great to see! It came with six products, four full sized, one deluxe sample size, and one (well, technically two) sample sachets. I'm quite excited about this one!
Be A Bombshell Lip Gloss in Taupeless | RRP $21.00
I am familiar with Be A Bombshell and have used an eyeshadow quad from them that I received in a previous box - although I'm not quite sure why they put these in an Australian/New Zealand subscription box because they only ship to the US from their website! It is nice to have the chance to try the products, but what if you wanted to try more? Rant aside, the lip gloss is in a nice nude brown shade, but it seems a bit thick and a little too sticky for me. The colour pay off is good though, and there was a possibility of receiving three shades, Taupeless, Saucy, or Sugar Lips.
Be A Bombshell The One Stick in Flustered | RRP $24.00
Now this is an intriguing product, and one I'm not completely sold on just yet (but that might be down to the shade I received). This is an all-in-one multiple stick that you can use on your cheeks, lips, or eyelids (questionable, but that's what they suggest!) I received the shade Flustered (out of two options, the other is Southern Bell), and it is a pinky red with distinctive and quite chunky gold glitter bits in it, which is what I'm not totally convinced by. I will try and make it work though.
Hikari Eyeshadow Quad in Gwen | RRP $22.50
This is a brand very similar to Be A Bombshell in that they don't actually ship outside of the US! But that aside, it's quite a funky looking eyeshadow quad. There are three other options available (see them here); Emma (the one I would have most liked to have received), Halle and Zoe. This has one crazy turquoise green shade, but then three other wearable shades, that would make an epic smokey eye. The quality isn't as terrible as the cheap packaging might suggest, but the proof will be in how they perform on the lids.
Paula's Choice Resist Intensive Wrinkle-Repair Retinol Serum [Deluxe Sample] | Full Size RRP $52.00 (30ml)
Lena (from Lena Talks Beauty) always raves about Paula's Choice products and I've been wanting to try them for a while now. This serum sounds like exactly what I need right now - it is supposed to repair wrinkles and sun damage, build collagen and reduce dark spots. It's only a 7ml sample, but hopefully it will give me a fair idea of the product then I might splash out on the full sized.
Racinne Ultimate Hydra Perfection Gentle Refining Scrub | RRP USD $23.00 / AUD $30.00
After some Googling, I discovered that this is a Korean skincare brand, but available in the US, and Canada, and they ship worldwide from their website. There were seven different products you could have received from their range, ranging in price from $24 to $63. I'm really glad I received a scrub, as I can't go without one in my skincare routine. This one has lemon grass, peach extract, and seaweed to promote hydrated and rejuvenation of skin cells.
Garnier Fructis Full And Luscious Shampoo And Conditioner (10ml Samples) | Full Size RRP $5.95 each
The bonus products in the box are two sachets of shampoo and conditioner from a new range from Garnier, aimed at creating thicker, fuller and stronger hair.
The overall value for the July box is approximately $112 - not bad for the $19.95 you pay for the subscription. I was pleased to see that this box had a good range of makeup and skincare to try out.
As always you can get $5 off your first box by using the code CASSMYEE. The August box is going to be their birthday month - so I can predict that it should be a good one!
Do you get Lust Have It each month? What do you think of the June + July contents?
