EMPTIES | September '15Monday, September 28, 2015
I think that the months just really need to put the breaks on; it only feels like it was last week that I was sharing my Empties from August! But here we are at the end of September, and surprisingly I got through a lot of products this month, with a good mix of things across the beauty board.
Schwarzkopf Extra Care Hair Repair Serum Deep Repair Shampoo + Conditioner*
Stupidly long name aside, this hair combo treated me very well this month. Usually I don't put shampoo and conditioners in my Empties, because I usually have the big bottles of the Tresemme Colour Shampoo and Conditioner that take ages to get through, but I thought I would add these in to my Empties, because they were great products. My hair isn't heavily damaged; the ends are definitely dry, and because I colour it so often it is prone to breakage, and this combo really helped to make my hair look and feel a lot healthier. If you do have weak and damaged hair I would really suggest these, plus the serum from the same line is great too and it's easily available at supermarkets and cheap too!
Eleven Australia Miracle Hair Treatment*
This took months and months to get through, and I'm glad it did because it was really nice to use. I was using this most days, just taking one pump and focusing it on the ends of my hair where it needs the most help. This helped to treat the hair, make it softer, tame the frizz and protect it from heat styling and it worked well on damp and dry hair.
anatomicals The Buff Stuff Citrus Body Scrub*
I was so sad when I finally used up this scrub early in the month - it smells absolutely amazing and worked well to exfoliate the skin. It had just the right amount of grit to it that it did the job but wasn't harsh or drying on the skin, and is definitely one I would buy again as I'm quite keen to try another of the scents.
Soap & Glory Sugar Crush Body Wash + Body Buttercream
The day that I heard Postie were stocking a small amount of Soap & Glory was a glorious day. These came in a little set, so I got through them pretty quickly because they were on the smaller sample size side, but the scent is insanely good, very limey, but also sweet. The body wash was just a pretty standard one, but I really liked the Body Buttercream, it felt very moisturising but not tacky or sticky on the skin and it sunk in quickly.
The Body Shop Seaweed Purifying Facial Cleanser
It wouldn't be an Empties post from me without some The Body Shop skincare products included. I love the Tea Tree and Seaweed range especially as they work well for my oily/combo/acne prone skin. This was a cream cleanser and I found it to be very gentle on the skin, and it did a good job as cleansers go. I would definitely buy this again, but I'm currently making my way through some others.
The Body Shop Tea Tree Blemish Fade Night Lotion
I absolutely love this night cream and without fail will always buy a replacement when I run out of it. I find it has done a really good job at helping to reduce the darker acne scarring and pigmentation as well as treating any active breakouts I have. It's definitely one for oily skin, and probably one of my favourites from the Tea Tree line.
Maybelline Eye + Lip Makeup Remover [x2]
Yep, I got through two of these again this month - honestly I must have shares in this product by now, I buy it so much! It is the best makeup remover I've used; it doesn't sting, and it removes really stubborn eye makeup and lip products with ease.
Maybelline Fit Me! Matte + Poreless Foundation in 115 Ivory*
The past couple of months since I got this foundation I've basically been using it every day, and actually got through a bottle of it! I've already bought another one because I really love it - it's medium coverage, with a matte finish that doesn't look dry or cakey on the skin. It find it really smooths over my pores and fine lines and lasts really well throughout the day. If you are oily/combination skinned, go and give this a go - you won't be disappointed!
Johnson's No More Tears Baby Shampoo
No, I don't have a baby, this is just my makeup brush cleaner of choice and it works so well! I use this in conjunction with my Brush Egg, putting a small amount on it then lightly wetting my brush and then I work this into it and rinse the brush, and the makeup just pours out. This isn't harsh on the bristles, so it leaves them really clean, without damaging the brushes and is perfect for a deep clean.
Trilogy Certified Organic Rosehip Oil
I probably should have thrown this out at least a couple of months ago, because I had basically finished, but I was still hoarding it away in my bathroom drawer. I am a big fan of Rosehip Oil - it's great for the skin and has a number of benefits, which you can read about in this [quite old] post of mine here. Luckily another bottle turned up from Trilogy last week, so I'm looking forward to cracking into a fresh one.
Daiso Detergent For Puff + Sponge
If you are yet to experience the magic that is this makeup sponge cleaner - you need to try it! I use my Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge everyday without fail so it gets very dirty and clogged with product. This gets rid of every little trace of makeup in the sponge leaving it looking completely clean and new again - it's really magic! I already have 2 bottles of this backed up, plus it's so cheap at 3 for $10 from Daiso stores.
Manuka Doctor ApiNourish Firm Body Moisturiser*
I am currently scraping out the very last remnants of this moisturiser, which I got sent a while back but have only been using it properly for the last month or so. As body moisturisers go, this one is pricey at NZD $54.95, and to be honest I'm not sure it's worth the price tag. Sure it's nice to use, sinks into the skin and doesn't leave a greasy film, but I haven't really noticed any firming effects as it promises. It's unlikely I will go out and buy this (well not in my current budgeting state!)
What products have you finished up this month? Have you used any of the ones I finished?
