There's a new beauty brand in town, and it is crazy cheap, you won't even believe it! European brand, Essence has finally launched into 20 Farmers across the country. I first heard about it ages ago through Liv from xlivlovesmakeup on YouTube and she was raving about a few of the products, but at that point they only had one stand in an out of the way Farmers in Auckland. I was sent quite a few products to try out, and when I was up in Wellington at the end of last month I bought a few other products from the small stand they have in the Cuba Street Farmers. Here are some thoughts on each of the products.
It seems that finally Lust Have It have sorted out their shipping issues and things are arriving on time! The May box* (they skipped April to get back on track) arrived only three weeks after the March one, so next month I'll do a collective review of the products inside both boxes. If you're unfamiliar to Lust Have It, let me introduce you to it! It's a monthly subscription service for AUD $19.95 a month, and it promises to come with at least five things inside, a mix of full sized and sample sizes. This month the bag was packed with 8 products, four of them are full sized, with the rest being deluxe sample sizes.
Australis have really been making a name for themselves in the cosmetics industry in NZ and Australia lately with some really great releases, and a lot of new and interesting products. As part of a recent release, they came out with this new Mix It Foundation, plus added five more shades to their already extensive range of the amazing Velourlips. Here's my thoughts on these products.
Another week has past, in which I got back from Auckland and then lost my voice and have been sick since then! I've decided that this will be the very last Weekly Collective post, to be honest I just started to not enjoy writing them as much and I'd rather focus on my blog post during the week. I've been reading the ABM Blog Life, so there will be changed afoot, and perhaps a new series will kick off, but for now I'll have three posts a week - Monday, Wednesday and Friday - I hope you're all happy with that! Anyway here is what happened this past week...
When it comes to brows, Anastasia is the lady for the job. Her range of brow products are incredible; there's heaps of shades, so something to suit everyone and she also offers a range of different products, from pomades, to pencils, to gels. It took me a while to finally take the dive and try some of Anastasia Beverly Hills most famous products, and I am so glad I have. One in particular has become a bit of a holy grail product for me (any guesses?)
My beauty wishlist is constantly being added too, in fact it's getting miles long that I am hanging out for a lotto win so I can buy 'all the things'. At the tip top of my list was this beauty of a product - By Terry Ombre Blackstar in the infamous shade, Misty Rock. Yes, it is the shade that everyone raves about (especially the UK bloggers/vloggers), but I just couldn't bring myself to pay the NZD $60.00 for a single eyeshadow stick. But I was very surprised and very thankful that my sister treated me to this for my birthday in April. The big question is, is it worth the price tag and the hype?
I find myself far too often on the MAC website, adding things to my cart, creating a dream wishlist and then closing down the tab. Whenever a new collection comes out it gives me the push I need to actually order some of the products I've been lusting after. The Wash & Dry collection release was exactly that push I needed.
Unlike previous Weekly Collective's this one is going to be sans Instagram photos, as I wrote this about 4 days in advance and have it scheduled as I am currently away! But never fear, because things will return back to normal next week, and if you want to see what I've been up to on Instagram, just click here.
This beautiful palette from Stila is a fairly new addition to my makeup collection and I instantly feel in love with it the moment I used it. I included it in my Most Loved May, but now I'm going more in-depth to share why I love it so much.
Another The Samples post was a very long time over due, so much so that my little box packed with sample sachets was overflowing! I've pulled out six different products, all from brands that I've either never used, or only tried one thing from them. Quick disclaimer though, obviously using a product one time isn't going to give me instant results, I'll just be commenting on my first impressions and how they felt on the skin. A couple of the samples I did get multiple uses from, so that gave me a much better idea of how the product worked over time.
I've got quite problem with hoarding makeup. It's nothing too major but I just like to have a few back ups of some of my favourite and most used products in case I run out slash I lose it slash I never want to be without these things. This post was inspired by Anna from ViviannaDoesMakeup who wrote a post a few months back (here) sharing her beauty bits she keeps backed up and I realised I have a very similar situation happening in one of my makeup drawers.
This week just gone flew by with a mix of packing, blogging, studying and binging on reality show Fashion Bloggers (very good, highly recommend). My Instagram was a busy one, and I hit 1000 followers which I was beyond excited about, so thank you to anyone who follows me! Excitement aside, here is your weekly update of what I posted on CM this week.
I apologies if you are sick of hearing me (and everyone else in the world) obsess and rave about how great the new Maybelline Color Drama Matte Lip Pencils are. I seriously can't get enough of them, and what started out as two sent to me by PR, has escalated into me buying four more shades. They're seriously good, so I've lined them up and swatched the six shades I have. Plus I'll rave about them a little bit more.
In my last ColourPop post (have a read here, it features the Shaaanxo + Minx Society Sets), I mentioned there would be a bit more ColourPop goodness coming to the blog, and here it is! When I did my big haul (here) I wanted to try a little bit of everything that CP had to offer, so the Fetch, Please set by actress, Isabelle Fuhrman, was a good way to get a few shades of the Super Shock shadows and some of the Lippies Stix (plus the packaging was very enticing!)
