MAKEUP REVOLUTION | Mermaids Forever 32 Ultra Professional Eyeshadow Palette - Review + SwatchesWednesday, March 23, 2016
It's very rare that you can buy a 32 pan eyeshadow palette for a super affordable price. Well, Makeup Revolution have got it down when it comes to palettes, and the Mermaid Forever Ultra Professional Palette* contains all sorts of different shades to create endless makeup looks. Beauty Bliss recently started stocking a few products from this drugstore UK brand, and they sent me this stunning palette to try out.
The Mermaids Forever Palette comes in this amazing turquoise blue metallic box and I had hoped the palette would be the same. Instead, it's just your standard black palette, similarly packaged as the New-Trals Vs. Neutral Palette* (review and swatches here), but a little larger. It's got an amazing large mirror, and for a palette that has 32 shadows in it, it's not overly large so would work well if you were traveling, plus it's got a whole load of shades to keep you going. It is sturdy and durable, almost too durable as I found it hard to get it open the first few times, but it has since loosened up.
As you can see above the palette is very bright and colourful and definitely a step out of my comfort zone. I have to admit I've not used many of the shades on my lids, with a tendency to reach for the safer, neutral shades, although I am going to experiment with the reds, pinks and oranges during this Autumn. Inside the palette is a plastic sheet with names of each shade, which is seemingly useless for you all, but perfect for me as a blogger to talk about particular shades.
Take a moment to browse over the load of swatches of this palette, then I'll tell you all about the quality. Pigmentation wise, everything is all pretty good. Some shades are definitely more pigmented than others, but then some are a little chalky and hard to get a good colour payoff, such as Mermaids, Princess and Ocean, and the lighter shades. Forever and Seashell. The majority, however, perform well. Putting down an eyeshadow base or primer will definitely help to keep these shadows lasting longer on the lids (I find the can fade a bit throughout the day) and it will also intensify the colour - particularly those gorgeous bright blues and greens.
All of them have a shimmery, metallic finish to some degree, and there are no matte shades, which isn't a deal breaker but if you want a palette that is going to do it all (especially when you're travelling), this might not be for you. Personally, I need a couple of matte shades in a palette as a base and as a crease/blending shade. But I think if you want to experiment with a bit of colour and don't want to fork out loads of dosh then check out this palette and others from the brand.
