MAYBELLINE | Latest NZ Launches - First Impressions + Swatches - CassandraMyee

I always get so excited when Maybelline do a massive new product drop. Last month saw the launch of this stash of new products and the introduction of the new slogan and initiative by Maybelline: Make It Happen. Gone are the 'Maybe She's Born With It' days (although it will still be so iconic), now they welcome the new tagline that better represents the modern woman, what we represent, how we represent ourselves and just how badass we all are and can be. I am totally on board with it, and you can read a little bit more about this in a post I did last month (see it here).

The mid-year drop of products is certainly immense, with some things I have been hoping would get their NZ launch after they were brought out in America. They've covered practically every makeup category and I am so excited to share with you all of the newness.

Maybelline Master Fix by Face Studio Wear Boosting Setting Spray* | NZD $19.99
I was actually able to try this product out a few months back as it came in one of the Best Beauty Box Ever's, and since then I have really been loving it. It was about time that more affordable brands started bringing out setting sprays. Because I have quite oily skin, I always need to powder and set with a spray to ensure things stay in place throughout the day. This is a super fine mist - one of the better ones I have used, and it takes a few seconds for it to dry down on the skin. It's undetectable, but settles powders and helps things to stay in place for longer. The bottle is also a huge size at 100ml, so it's going to last a long time!

Maybelline Dream Velvet Soft-Matte Hydrating Foundation in 40 Nude* | $24.99
A staple product from Maybelline is the Dream Mousse Foundation, which I'm sure most of you would have tried! This is the updated, modern version of that and instead of being in a jar, it's in an easy, squeezable tube. I always go for a matte/demi-matte foundation as my skin gets oily quickly, so the concept of a hydrating matte foundation was intriguing. I have only used this a couple times and am still on the fence about it. The texture is like a light gel/mousse, which took a bit longer to blend onto the skin than other foundations. The initial layer was a light coverage but I built it up to a medium coverage with the second layer. It still looked natural on the skin, with a nice finish. The only thing that didn't impress me was the wear time and I found after a couple of hours I was looking shiny and it was starting to break up on the skin. I need to try it with some different primers before I totally disregard this! Overall there are 10 shades available.

Maybelline Master Conceal by Face Studio Camouflaging Concealer in 10 Fair* | $19.99
One thing I struggle with is finding a really high coverage concealer, particularly for spots. At the moment I have been loving the Estee Lauder Double Wear Waterproof Concealer*, but it is pretty pricey. This new range from Maybelline does the trick almost as good as the Estee Lauder offering. 10 Fair is the lightest shade (out of 5 available) and is almost a touch too light for me, so perfect for you pale girls who struggle getting a shade to match. The formula is creamy, on the thicker side but blends well and does a great job at concealing spots and redness. There have been days where I pop a bit of this in areas where I need it and then powder, rather than going in with foundation. It's well worth checking out, especially at that price point.

Maybelline Master Contour by Face Studio Face Contouring Kit*| $19.99
I love a good contour kit and so far I have really been enjoying this one. There are two shades available, Light to Medium and Medium to Dark. The contour shade makes for a nice bronzer and contour, however, I would prefer it to be slightly ashier. The blush is a gorgeous satin peachy pink and the highlight isn't too intense and looks relatively natural on the skin.

Maybelline The Blushed Nudes Eyeshadow Palette* | $29.99
They have finally released the second instalment to their 'The Nudes' Palette line up with this gorgeous pink toned selection of 12 shades. I will do a full review on this with swatches, but overall the shades are nice to use, some aren't as pigmented or as easy to blend as I would like but I do think there are some very pretty shades in there, and some have great pigmentation. I haven't been reaching for this a lot, but as a palette fiend, it's nice to have in my collection.

Maybelline Brow Drama Pomade Crayon in Medium Brown* | $14.99
It was about time someone made a pomade that was easier to use than the pot ones! I am definitely a pencil lover when it comes to my brows, but always keen to try out other formulas. This shade is a little bit too light for me, and I worry that when this starts to lose its pencil tip that you won't be able to get a precise line or definition to the brows. For me, this isn't a product I will reach for loads, but maybe after I have defined the shape with a pencil this would work well to fill in the thicker areas.

Maybelline Master Precise Curvy Eye Liner in Black* | $19.99
When I saw the tip of this liquid eyeliner I was so intrigued to try it out. The curvy nib means you can get a thick line or a nice thin line by just rotating it. The formula is super black, comes out easily in one swipe and is relatively easy to use for a liquid eyeliner. I am definitely a fan of this one.

Maybelline Lasting Drama Gel 24hr Automatic Eye Pencil in Black* | $19.99
A good crayon type eyeliner never goes amiss in my makeup bag and this gel formula one is ideal for the waterline and tight line as it sets down quickly and doesn't smudge.

Maybelline The Falsies Push Up Drama Mascara in 304 Blackest Black* | $24.99
I have far too many mascaras open at the moment to justify opening this one, but I am looking forward to trying it out and it will be featured on the blog eventually. It's had mixed reviews from what I have read, and the brush definitely looks like a unique one, with a 'push up clip brush' designed to give you lashes an instant lift.

Maybelline Color Sensational Vivid Matte Liquid Lipsticks* | $19.99
I was thrilled to see these get released, after much hype over in the US market. I was lucky enough to get all the shades and there are some gorgeous colours in the mix. I will do a proper post on these with swatches, but as a quick review I find them really pigmented however they don't fully dry down to a matte finish, so I'm not completely sold on them just yet, but this might change...

Maybelline Color Sensational The Blushed Nudes Lipsticks* | $19.99
As with the Vivid's I will do a full post on these as well sharing swatches. The Blushed Nudes line up includes five pink hues that will be gorgeous as we come into Spring and Summer. The formula on them is very creamy and similar to other Color Sensational ranges.

Maybelline Baby Lips Balm + Blush* | $9.99
I saw these get released in the UK and wanted to get one for the cuteness factor alone! The Baby Lips range, I would say, is aimed at the younger audience, although I do love their lip balms. These little domed products can be used as a lip balm or a cream blush and come in four shades. I'm not sold on them as blushes yet as they seem to stay quite sticky on the skin, but as a tinted lip balm, they are nice to use and a bit of a novelty.

So that's a wrap up of the entire selection of new releases that will be on Maybelline stands now!

Have you had a chance to try any of the new products yet? What intrigues you the most?
