THE BODY SHOP | New Makeup Editions - Down to Earth Palettes + Fresh Nude Cushion FoundationFriday, November 04, 2016
The Body Shop are so well known for their body and skincare ranges, but I feel their makeup offerings are overlooked. The Honey Bronzer is one of my favourite bronzers to use (I recently hit pan on it), and the new Lighting Drops for your foundation are great to have to get the most out of your foundation year round. There really are some stand out products, and the brand new Down To Earth Eyeshadow Palettes* are set to be stand outs as well.
The Palettes are inspired by the rich tones of the Earth, so they are packed with neutral tones, as well as bringing in some greens and blues in the smaller quad palettes. All of the eye shadows are 100% Vegan and cruelty-free as well. This is the eight pan palette, which just comes in this colour way, and I've gotta say... I love it!
The Down To Earth Palette* retails for $64.95 for 8 shades, working out at around $8.00 for shadows which is an amazing deal. The pans are really large as well with 2.2g of product and for comparison, a single M.A.C shadow has 1.3g of product. The pigmentation on all of the shades are amazing, they're soft, buttery and blend well. There is a range of basic mattes as well are some with more of a sheen to them, but nothing overly glittery. It's a palette that would work for basically everyone!
Along with the large palette, there are the Down To Earth Eyeshadow Quads* for NZD $49.95 each. There are five different colourways ranging from silvery greys and blues to a palette with soft peach and mauves. They are the same size pans as the larger one and the palette I have in 03, is a gorgeous cool toned selection of shades with great colour pay off.
They couldn't have eyeshadow palettes without a brush so The Body Shop has also brought out the new Double-Ended Brush for NZD $36.95. The bristles are soft and work really well with the palette; one end is fluffier for applying colour to the lid and blending while the other end is slanted, which is good for lining the eyes and also can be used for your brows.
Completely on trend, they have also launched their version of the cushion foundation the Fresh Nude Cushion Foundation* (NZD $53.50). It comes in the same packaging as most do, a round compact, with a thing sponge with a flap you lift to reveal the cushion that holds all the liquid inside. The Body Shop's offering in dermatologically tested, non-comedogenic and 100% vegan. It contains English water and aloe vera to give a semi-mate finish to the skin.
I have used this a few times and have been thoroughly impressed. I skip using the sponge and find a large blending sponge (like a Beauty Blender or the Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge) works best to give more product coverage and a dense buffing brush works really well too. The foundation feels so light on the skin and gives light to medium, but buildable coverage. The semi-matte finish means it is good for those with oilier skins and I found it wore really well throughout the day. For dry skin, I think this could become a firm favourite! It comes in only 5 shades which could be hard to find a match; the one above is Malawi Beach 03, which might be a touch too dark for me now, but over summer will be perfect. These types of products are great for on the go touch-ups and have the sponge and mirror inside if you need a top up of coverage throughout the day.
Overall The Body Shop have nailed it with these new makeup additions and I definitely, suggest you go in and check out the range and have a little play if you can! These should be in all stores, otherwise, you can buy them online.
What do you think of these new products?
