M.A.C. | Haul - Mariah Carey, Star Trek, It's A Strike + Shadescents CollectionsMonday, February 27, 2017
When I first started my blog I didn't own a single M.A.C product - would you believe it?! Of course, I was always fascinated with the brand and would have loved to own some things from them but at that point in time, it was a little out of my budget. Jump forward 3 years and I am so lucky to be able to be sent products from their PR (still shocks me every day), as well as spending my own hard earned cash. Now I have quite the collection! I recently did a little order from the US site and used NZ Post YouShop to get it to me which is something I do often and shipping works out to only be about NZD $22. My main reason for doing this order was when they launched the beautiful Mariah Carey collection and luckily I got my hands on a couple things before a lot of it sold out!
A lot of this haul is limited edition products and some are no longer available which I apologise for, but I had to share them. Plus I love seeing limited edition collections, especially ones from years ago! Most of them I snagged in the 'Goodbyes' section for a huge discount, so make sure you always check that out on the US site here. At the moment there are some things from the Vibe Tribe Colleciton, Nutcracker Sweet range from the Holidays and the Trolls range.
STAR TREK COLLECTION
I am definitely not a 'Trekkie' or Star Trek fan by any means, although I do want to watch the latest movie remakes at some point. When it comes to limited edition M.A.C collections I have this mindset that I want at least one thing from each one. I just imagine in years to come being able to look back and see what they brought out as almost a museum archive of M.A.C - beauty lovers I am sure you will feel me on this!
This collection came out in October 2016 with a selection of intergalactic glittering goodness. The packaging is the traditional black with a metallic silver instead of the matte silver, with the Star Trek logo on the front or tops of the products. I ordered the Trip The Light Fantastic Powder in Highly Illogical (USD $20.40 on sale) which is still available here, and the Frost Lipstick in Kling-It-On (USD $10.80 on sale). As you can see the Fantastic Powder has the most amazing marbling and it swatches as a beautiful sheer bronze gold. It can be used all over the face as a sheer wash, but I prefer to use it as a highlighter. Kling-it-On is definitely an out-there lipstick shade which I bought mostly as a collector's item and is a deep purple with pink glitter throughout. Layered with a deep berry lip, this could look really striking.
MARIAH CAREY COLLECTION
It is so easy to see why this collection sold so well and the beauty community and M.A.C fanatics went crazy for it. It was released in December as part of the Holiday 2016 release and sold out so quickly in the US, UK and NZ. Although I'm not a huge Mariah fan, this packaging and the shade range was so up my street, I mean how was one supposed to resist a fully glittered M.A.C lipstick bullet?!
I really wanted to get one of the blushes, but they had sold out by the time I got on the US site the morning after the release. I did manage to get the Pro Longwear Lip Pencil in So Dramatique (USD $22.00) and the Cremesheen Lipstick in MCizzle (USD $20.00). So Dramatique is a deep brown and is a really on trend shade at the moment. MCizzle is such a beautiful lipstick which I almost can't bring myself to use because of the gorgeous butterfly imprint on the side, but it is a 'cool peach'. Both of them are still available online, so get in quick.
IT'S A STRIKE COLLECTION
This collection came out for Fall 2016 and I feel as though it went under the radar here! I couldn't resist this bowling-themed Pearlmatte Face Powder in Trophy (USD $16.20 down from $27.00, still available online here). I can't bring myself to actually use it, but it can be worn as a blush topper, or as a subtle pearly highlight on the skin.
This collection has just come out worldwide and features a range of cult lipstick shades paired with new fragrances matching the feel of the shades. The lipsticks have been repackaged to match the perfume bottles, and the shades/scents available are: Creme D'Nude, Velvet Teddy (above), Candy Yum-Yum, Lady Danger, Ruby Woo and Heroine. The Lipsticks are USD $17.00 or NZD $44.00 and the Scents are USD $57.00 or NZD $75.00 and are on counters now. I am so glad I got Velvet Teddy as it's a shade I have been wanting to get for a while and even better that it is in special packaging.
All up these products were USD $106, which for M.A.C is a complete steal compared to the NZD pricing (although it doesn't stop me buying a lipstick here and there from the NZ counters!) YouShop is super to easy to use, and if you search YouShop on my blog I have some more detailed posts about how to go about using it. It's not sponsored at all, I just want to share a great service!
Have you done any M.A.C hauling recently?
