MECCA MAX | Eyes To The Max Mega Party Palette - Review + Swatches

Christmas time means holiday sets packed to the brim with good deals and exclusive launches. This year I have managed to resist many of these sets (bar these two here) but when I saw the MECCA MAX Christmas launches, I knew the Eyes To The Max Mega Party Palette just had to be mine. And so it was...

If you are unfamiliar with this brand, MECCA MAX is Mecca Maxima's own brand and only available in Australia and New Zealand. Just like Sephora has their Sephora Collection, the MECCA MAX range is similar and launching new products quite frequently. I have tried a few things from them throughout the year and have been thoroughly impressed with the range, quality and of course, this very pleasing packaging.

As you might have guessed, this palette is literally mega and contains 35 gorgeous shades. I have compared it to some other popular palettes to give you an idea the size of this thing. Despite the large size, it is really thin (thinner than the Too Faced Palettes, for example) so I feel like that balances things out a bit.

I haven't swatched every single shade because I thought that might be an overkill, so I have swatched a selection from the palette to give you an idea of the pigmentation and different formulas. The majority of the palette is very warm-toned, with lots of bronzes, terracotta shades and more 'everyday' sort of tones. The bottom two rows inject a bit of difference with a couple of orange/red tones and pinks and purples. This sort of shade range is ideal for me and I can create a tonne of different looks with it and I love using it.

The shimmer shades and metallics are very pigmented, the matte shades perform so well and make the perfect tones for blending. The vibrant hot pink was probably the shade that lacked the pigmentation of the others, but it still has a good colour payoff. More neon tones like this are hard to pull off though. I will admit some of the shimmers do look pretty similar once you put them on the eyes, but can I really complain about that when there are 35 shades?

Overall for a holiday, limited edition palette it is amazing, and really good value for money at NZD $55 - that's like $1.50 a shadow! It is out of stock currently but I think it is going to be restocked fairly soon and you should totally get your hands on it - you won't regret it!

What do you think of this palette?
