EMPTIES | August '18 - CassandraMyee

I have been a bit slack with the old Empties posts, so I thought I would lump together all of my recent Empties from the past couple of months into one big post. Skip through if there is a certain product you are interested to hear my thoughts on - there's a fair few to get through.

Hask Hair Express Blow Dry Hair Drying Spray
This is an essential product for me and I swear by it. It helps to dry my hair quicker by magically helping the water particles to dissolve (I don't know the exact science, but it works) and it also makes my hair feel really soft too. It means you don't have to use as much heat on your hair which can be quite damaging.

Batiste Beautiful Brunette Dry Shampoo
I always need to have a can of dry shampoo handy, because you never know when you might need it! I like this tinted one as the normal one can leave a slight grey cast on my darker hair. It does the job exactly as I need so I will continually keep buying this one.

The Body Shop Fuji Green Tea Shampoo + Conditioner*
I hadn't ever used any of the hair care products from The Body Shop previously but since using these I need to try out some more. I was really impressed with this duo, the Shampoo is aimed at purifying the hair and scalp using Japanese green tea and Community Trade honey from Ethiopia and the Conditioner hydrates and refreshes. As a duo, they left my hair so clean, without stripping it or making it feel really dry. Both of these have no silicones in them and are 100% vegetarian.

Medicube Red Cleansing Pad*
This was from a Korean Beauty haul I did last year and this huge tub felt like it was never ending! It contained 70 pre-soaked pads that I used every second evening or so in place of a toner. They helped to remove any excess or leftover makeup and helped to soothe the skin. I really liked them and am continually impressed by what K-Beauty has to offer.

The Body Shop Camomile Silky Cleansing Oil
If there's one product I would have to recommend from The Body Shop it is this stuff. I love it and have been through countless bottles of it. It removes my makeup so effortlessly and leaves my skin feeling super soft afterwards.

By Nature Purify Eye Serum*
I pulled this one out of my stash to use after I finished up another eye cream and did enjoy this. It has a dropper style dispenser and was a lot lighter in texture than other eye creams I use, so it definitely lived up to being more of a serum. It did help to hydrate the under eye area, but if I got this in my eye it really stung! I enjoyed it but I probably wouldn't run out and repurchase it.

Maybelline Eye + Lip Make Up Remover
As always there has gotta be a few bottles of this featured. It is just one of the better eye makeup removers that don't irritate but removes all eye makeup with ease (there is also a couple other bottles featured below!)

Avene TriAcneal Expert Moisturiser*
I went to an event to celebrate the launch of this product a few months back and I was so excited to try this, I started using this right away. It is designed with acne prone skin in mind and the moisturiser is designed to be used at night so the active ingredients really have the chance to get to work on your skin. It felt lovely to use, was lightweight but felt hydrating and overall I think my skin did look a lot clearer after continually using it and I would recommend it.

Soap + Glory Hand Food
If you are after a good hand cream that smells delicious, look no further than this one. The scent of the Soap + Glory products are so nice and this hand cream is totally non-greasy and sinks in quickly. I also loved these smaller sample sized tubes.

Wet N Wild Matte Finish Setting Spray*
A setting spray is a must in my makeup routine, they can make such a difference in the longevity of your makeup. This Wet N Wild one is probably one of the cheapest you can buy and I did think it worked well. I don't think it locked things in like more higher end brands i.e. Urban Decay, Skindanavia etc but for a budget-friendly option, one can't complain!

Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Eraser Dark Circles
One of my holy grails and a product I won't stop using anytime soon is the Dark Circles Eraser from Maybelline. It is lightweight but brightens and covers and doesn't crease.

L'Oreal Paradise Extatic Mascara
I have a new found love for this mascara and want to stockpile it as I never want to run out. I have stopped reaching for most of my others because this does everything I could want. It is very thickening, lengthening and volumising. You can build it up to be super dramatic or do a few light coats. I am already onto my next tube!

Colourpop No Filter Concealer in Fair/Light
It's no wonder that this concealer has become a cult favourite. Not only is it super affordable, but it really covers so well and there's a great shade range. I find this can be a little heavy under the eyes every day, but for covering blemishes and spots on my face it works a treat and covers completely without looking cakey.

EOS Lip Balm
I have had this one for a little bit longer than what I should have but it was a good staple to have in the handbag. It wasn't the most hydrating but in a pinch, it did the job and smelt really nice too.

Creighton's Beautiful Brunette Extra Moisturising Shampoo + Conditioner*
If you live in NZ you may not have heard of Creighton's before. This is a UK brand that is now available in NZ at The Warehouse and the range is really affordable at around $6 a tube. I was sent a couple of their ranges to try and recently finished these for brunette hair. Overall I was really impressed, the conditioner had a silvery brown base to it which helps to really bring out the tones of your colour and I found they cleaned my hair and also left it looking shiny and hydrated.

Daiso Puff + Sponge Detergent
I've always got to have a bottle of this stuff around. I use a makeup sponge to apply my cream products daily so they always need a good clean every week or so and this does the best job to draw out all the built up foundation and the make the sponge look the colour it was supposed to be!

Linden Leaves In Bloom Nourishing Hand Cream*
This was a travel/handbag sized tube of one of their hand creams in one of their beautiful floral scents. The hand cream itself was really nice, it was lightweight and not too greasy.

Dermalogica Biolumin-C Serum*
Whenever Dermalogica brings out a new product I have high hopes and they don't disappoint. This was no exception, my only issue was that I got through this too quickly! This serum is designed to be used morning and night to brighten, firm and defend and to deliver 3x more Vitamin C into the skin when compared to similar products. I gotta say, this stuff worked really well and I definitely saw a difference in my skin, my scars were reduced and my skin just looked a bit healthier with more of a glow. This is expensive at NZD $159 but I would happily spend that on this (and they have Afterpay online too...)

Maybelline Eye + Lip Makeup Remover
See above for my thoughts on this Maybelline Remover!

SebaMed Clear Face Antibacterial Foaming Cleanser*
I am pretty relaxed when it comes to cleansers and as long as it cleans my face I am usually happy! I had this one in my shower for a while and did like it using. The foaming action was gentle but effective and definitely a good one for acne-prone and oily skin.

Skin Physics Advance Superlift Eye Treatment Serum*
I had never heard of Skin Physics before but was kindly sent some products from NZ beauty online distributor and retailer The Beauty Collective. Skin Physics products are made in NZ and Australia using rare and highly effective ingredients across their product line. I use an eye cream daily and have used some pretty average ones and some great ones, this one definitely sits up in the great category. The serum is definitely more of a cream, but the texture is light and easy to blend under the eyes. It instantly moisturises and I think my undereyes were looking a lot better after continued use and less textured.

Have you used any of these products?
